West Bengal: Belur Math in Kolkata will remain closed to worshipers and visitors

Following the COVID restrictions imposed by the Government of West Bengal, Belur Math, the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mission, will remain closed to devotees and visitors until further notice.

“It is notified for the information of all concerned that Belur Math will remain closed for devotees and visitors till further notice. This is in pursuance of the circular dated January 2, 2022 issued by the Government of West Bengal regarding COVID-19 pandemic,” reads the official notification from Belur Math authorities.

In view of the rise in COVID-19 cases, the West Bengal government decided on Sunday to close schools and other educational institutions, spas, salons, beauty parlours, zoos and amusement parks from January 3. .

Briefing the media, West Bengal Chief Secretary HK Dwivedi said, “All schools, colleges, universities, spas, salons, beauty salons, zoos and amusement parks will be closed in the state from tomorrow.

The government has ordered all government and private offices to operate at 50% capacity.

“All government and private offices will operate at 50% capacity, all administrative meetings will be held virtually,” Dwivedi said.

The government has also informed that flights from Delhi and Mumbai to West Bengal will operate only twice a week from January 5.
