Jammu, September 2: Swami Yajnadharananda Ji Maharaj popularly known as Sunil Ji Maharaj has succeeded outgoing secretary Swami Nirantarananda Ji Maharaj as secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Jammu in a solemn ceremony at the premises of the mission at Udheywala, Jammu.
Swami Vinirmuktananda Ji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Srinagar, Swami Sunischalananda Ji Maharaj and Swami Vivek Ji Maharaj were also present on the occasion.
Swami Yajnadharananda Ji Maharaj, 52 years old, joined the Ramakrishna Order in 1997 at Ramakrishna Math, Chennai in Tamil Nadu. Joining the Ramakrishna Order means leaving behind family and friends, profession and achievements, all worldly interests, pleasures and concerns, and embracing monastic life. The person will henceforth live in a monastery, generally known as Math or Ashrama, of the Order of Ramakrishna, devoting his life exclusively to spiritual pursuits and selfless service.
Swamiji has varied experiences and has served all over India like West Bengal, Rajasthan, Meghalaya, Maharashtra etc.
The outgoing secretary Swami Nirantarananda Ji Maharaj had taken over the leadership of RKM Jammu branch in 2013. Almost within eight years, he devoted himself to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. During his tenure, he was instrumental in starting the services of the Medical Division, Library, Vivekananda Auditorium, and free education for deserving students in need. His meticulous planning and flawless execution of relief operations for the daily poor and needy people of Jammu region during the COVID-19 pandemic was commendable. He will now go to HQ Belur Math and then move to Gujarat to take charge of Ramakrishna Mission, Vadodara.
