Why in the news? The Mayor of Mohali and Chandigarh talked about Greenery, the Mayor of Agra talked about waste composting and the Mayor of Bhopal talked about his city’s water management system. Naveen Jain, Chairman of the Mayor’s Council and Mayor of Agra, said that 20 lakh tons of waste from Agra city has been composted, soil has been prepared and used in the construction works. From now on, electricity will be produced from the waste generated every day in Agra. Soon, a factory will be set up for this purpose in Agra. Why in the news? Recently, the Budha Talab project of Raipur Smart City Limited of Chhattisgarh received the “Smart Project” award at a reception organized by the Smart City Council of India in Mumbai. As part of Smart Urbanization-2022, 33 smart cities across the country had nominated their projects for this award, in which Raipur Smart City Limited’s Budha Talab project was awarded. Raipur Smart City Limited presented the Smart Project Award for the work done by The Budhatalab-Swami Vivekanand Sarovar in beautifying and conducting economic activities and preparing safe and scenic places for the entertainment of ordinary people. The jury formed to select the prize considered the project to be useful in improving the standard of living of ordinary people and increasing economic opportunities for local people. The judging panel included experts from IT Kanpur and NIUA and representatives from reputable companies and institutions. Managing Director of Raipur Smart City Limited, Mayank Chaturvedi said for the entertainment of people, musical fountains and tunnels in the lake, land shopping has been done around the lake with attractive lights. A suitable playground has also been set up for children. As part of the Budha talab project, 28.1 hectares of aquatic space have been developed. In addition, a sales area has been developed over 1400 square meters and a floating bridge over 700 square meters. Young trees have also been planted to keep this area green.
