The South Indian Interstate Para Volleyball and Throwing Tournament was organized by the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Downtown in association with the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Institute of Education and Research, the Indian Association of Paralympic Volleyball and Indian Para Throwing Federation in memory of the late Rotary member Rtn. Dr Krishnananda.

The matches took place on Sunday at the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Indoor Stadium, Coimbatore. The Rotary Club of Coimbatore Downtown project president, Rotarian Godwin Maria Visvasam, said, “For the past four years these competitions have been held at the Coimbatore district level, but this time the competitions have been between States.

The tournament was inaugurated by lawyer Rtn AKS N. Sundaravadivelu. Guest of honor was ICP President and Arjuna Laureate, MM Mahadeva. Earlier, President NJ Sundaresan pointed out the memorial torch.

Para Volleyball Men Tamilnadu won 1st prize, Andhra Pradesh 2nd prize and Pondicherry 3rd prize. Best player award won by Santhosh Kumar from Tamil Nadu team.
In the women’s ball throwing competition, Karnataka team won 1st prize, Andhra Pradesh 2nd prize and Tamilnadu team won 3rd prize. Best player award won by B. Geetha from Karnataka team.

The awards were presented by Rotarian AKS N. Sundaravadivelu. Rotary Club of Downtown NJ President Sundaresan, Secretary Kumaran Treasurer Vignesh, Project Manager Godwin Maria Visvasam and Dr. Giridharan were in attendance.
