Mangaluru Ramakrishna Mission, in its effort to enlighten the younger generation on the importance of freedom, organized a series of lectures on July 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the occasion of the Azadi ka Amrith Mahotsav mark. In a statement, Sri Ekagamyananda Swami of Mangaluru Ramakrishna Mutt said that Mangaluru South MLA D. Vedavyasa Kamath will inaugurate the program at mutt at 9 a.m. in the presence of mutt chairman Jithakamananda Swami, MLC Manjunatha Bhandary, former captain of the MLC Ganesh Karnik and others. Quoting Swami Vivekananda that freedom did not mean anarchy but responsibility, Sri Ekagamyananda said India had a lot to achieve despite the progress made in all aspects of life over the past 75 years. The mission had long focused on young people and used mahotsav for an intensified approach. Raghottam Rao on “Freedom Isn’t Free”; Ganesh Amin Sankamar on “Rani Abbakka in the Fight for Freedom” and Anindita Gowda on “Amar Sullia – The Forgotten Story of Freedom”. The program was organized at the special request of the Centre, Sri Ekagamyananda said. Those interested in attending should pre-register at the dog office, he added.
