JAMMU, May 9: To highlight the contribution of Swami Vivekananda, a revolutionary saint of India, to India’s independence, a function was held at Swami Ramakrishna Mission at Udaywala near here today .
Four schools in Jammu namely GD Goenka Public School, Maharaja Harisingh Agriculture Collegiate School, KC International Public School and Vishwabharati Public HS School participated in the program which started amid chanting of Vedic mantras by Brahmacharins Achintiya Chaitanya and Dipak.
This was followed by Bhajan by Brahmachari Achintya Chaitanya. The students repeated Vivekananda’s Swadesh Mantra.
The program was presented by Swami Yajnadharananda, Rama Krishna Mission Jammu secretary. He described Swami Vivekananda’s role in India’s independence and also stressed that the responsibility lies with present and future generations to preserve Swami Ji’s legacy. Afterwards, students from different schools made presentations in the form of informative speeches and patriotic songs.
The main guest on the occasion was Ashok Raina, Sangchalak, Uttar Prant, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari. He highlighted the teachings of Swami Vivekanda. He called on students to understand life deeply followed by spiritual values. Arindam Bose offered a vote of thanks. The program ended with Brahmachari Deepak’s song. At the end, Khichadi Prasad was served to the people.
