Prime Minister Modi unveils life-size statue of Swami Vivekanand at JNU campus

On November 12, 2020, Prime Minister Modi unveiled a life-size statue of Swami Vivekanand via video conference at the campus of Jawahar Lal Nehru University, Delhi. Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank was also present at the event.

According to the statement issued earlier by the central university, the life-size statue of Swami Vivekanand was to be unveiled by Prime Minister Modi on November 12. The statue was installed on the university campus. The unveiling of the statue of Swami Vivekanand was preceded by a program about him starting at 5:30 p.m.

Prime Minister Modi addressed the crowd via video conference and also shared his thoughts on the teachings of Swami Vivekanand.

Life statue of Swami Vivekanand has been unveiled virtually by PM Modi.

The Vice Chancellor of JNU said in a statement that Swami Vivekanand was one of the most beloved spiritual and intellectual leaders India has been blessed with. He has always enthused the youth with India’s message of harmony, peace, freedom and development. Vivekanand has always inspired Indian citizens to be proud of Indian culture, civilization and its industrious spirit.

Prime Minister Modi has always said that Swami Vivekanand’s ideals are as relevant today as they were during Swami Vivekanand’s lifetime. The Prime Minister also stresses that serving the masses as well as empowering the youth of the nation will strengthen the country mentally, physically and spiritually and improve the overall image of the nation.
