Manipur and Tripura schools record wins with highest margin at Subroto Cup International Football Tournament


Heirok Higher Secondary School (HHSS), Imphal and Sudhanwa Debbarma Memorial Secondary School (SDMHS), Jampuijala recorded 7-0 wins in the boys U-14 group stage matches at the 61st Tournament Subroto Cup International Football Championship.

A total of 11 games were played on four courts in the nation’s capital on Wednesday. Three players had hat tricks.

HHS, Imphal, overwhelmed Ramakrishna Mission Vivekanand Vidya Peeth, Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh, at Tejas Football Ground, with L. Bikramjit scoring a hat-trick and L. Boyomayo a brace. The other two goals were scored by K. Dingkal and J. Likson.

SDMHS, Jampuijala scored a hat-trick from Jetli Kalai to beat Air Force Schools at Ambedkar Stadium. Bijoy, Rohit, Asutosh and Philman scored the remaining four goals for Tripura School.

In another identical performance, Government Chawngfianga Middle School of Mizoram routed Army Public School of Delhi Cantonment 5-0 at Ambedkar Stadium. Isak Lalmaisawma scored a hat-trick for the team.

Other winners of the day included Major Dhyan Chand Sports College, Lucknow (2-1 over KVS, Imphal), Gurukul, Kurukshetra (3-0 over BKBirla Center of Education) and Pathways School, Noida (3-0 over St Francis Xavier School, Daman and Diu).
