Ranchi, September 4

Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the ruling UPA coalition in Jharkhand returned to Ranchi today evening after spending six days in the capital of Chhattisgarh.

The 32 MPs were flown to Raipur on August 30 by a chartered plane fearing poaching by the BJP given the prevailing political uncertainty in the state following a pending profit office case against Chief Minister Hemant Soren. It is reported that Soren has been charged in the case by the Election Commission of India and Governor Ramesh Bais may soon announce the disqualification (if any).

The two MPs, who are also ministers, returned the next day to attend the cabinet meeting. The UPA MPs were housed in a luxury resort in Nava Raipur, the future new capital of Chhattisgarh.

The deputies arrived in Ranchi on a chartered plane on Sunday afternoon to attend a special session of the assembly. The plane which took off from Swami Vivekanand airport in Raipur landed at Birsa Munda airport around 6pm. They were taken to the circuit house.

The lawmakers had returned to attend the extraordinary session of the assembly convened on Monday. The deputies had been invited to camp in the circuit house where a heavy security device was put in place.

Members went immediately to the assembly from the circuit house.
